As a follow-up to last month’s newsletter on the Law of Attraction, I want to highlight some points from a book I’m reading entitled: The Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be by Jack Canfield. This is truly a resource book for those who are serious about personal development and life transformations.

For me - - It all started many years ago when I took a Louis Tice Workshop on New Age Thinking, when I started reading Wayne Dyer books, and attending Wayne Dyer’s Workshops, as well as T. Harv Eker's “Millionaire Mind” Seminar, and completing my Masters in Spiritual Psychology in 2002. A culmination of all those experiences and self-awareness helped me recognize, I am responsible for my life and every situation I experience.

Jack Canfield, best known for the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, identifies in his book, The Success Principles, 64 practical and inspiring principles that teach you how to increase your confidence, tackle daily challenges, live with passion and purpose, and realize all your ambitions.

One of the principles that stood out for me is that once you learn the basics, you then can tackle the important inner work of transformation. This reinforced what I’ve known and believe: Lasting change happens on the inside first and then works it way out.

Principle 2: Be Clear Why You Are Here

Sounds pretty simple and easy, doesn’t it? However, identifying, acknowledging and honoring your purpose is perhaps the most important action successful people take. How many of us actually take time to go within and discover who we are, our gift, and identify what brings us joy and satisfaction?

Jack states: “once we know what we were put on this Earth to do - - our purpose in life, everything in life falls in place. To be “on purpose” means that you’re doing what you love to do, doing what you’re good at, and accomplishing what’s important to you. When you truly are on purpose, the people resources, and opportunities you need gravitate towards you - - the law of attraction. When you act in alignment with your true life purpose, all of your actions automatically serve others.”

“Decide upon your major definite purpose in life
and then organize all Your activities around it.”
~ Brian Tracy

Jack Canfield states in his book The Success Principles: “Once you know what your life purpose is, you can organize all your activities around it. Everything you do should be an expression of your purpose. If an activity doesn’t fit that formula, you wouldn’t work on it. Period.”

You’re probably asking yourself, how do I learn what my purpose is? One way is to examine the things that bring you the greatest joy that are aligned with your purpose. Ask yourself: What am I doing when I feel happy, joyful, and alive? Think of three things you can do that make you feel joyful. What are the common elements of these experiences? What are the things you can do to make a living doing these things?
